CANSCAIP, the Canadian Society of Children’s Authors, Illustrators and Performers, and SCBWI, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators are two organizations that I highly recommend joining if you are interested in writing for children. They will link you to a community of people who love children’s books. |

| www.bookcentre.ca | The Canadian Children’s Book Centre has a kit called Get Published! which will help first time authors and illustrators submit a manuscript or a portfolio to a publisher. It’s also a great place to find Canadian award announcements and the latest children’s book news. |
| www.writersunion.ca | The Writers’ Union of Canada has many helpful resources for writers including listings of writing awards and a directory of Canadian agents. They sell information about Canadian grants and negotiating contracts. |
